This morning Christian was kind enough to wake me up at 7.30 am, I went straight for my shower and then ironed my clothes ready for the day. I then went for my breakfast for my usual kids & Co breakfast of bread rolls and tea. I had to eat pretty fast because I was running late for our media session but made it just in time. Today was our last session and we had to complete all the work tasks. I enjoyed the session because Christian and myself had to create a title on a wall using spray cans, which I sketched out first. The sketch was well done but I found it hard to do on the wall using spray cans because I hadn’t ever done this before. I don’t think it was as successful as the sketch I had done but I really enjoyed creating and experimenting with art in a different style. After this I was lucky enough to finish my working shift early and spent the rest of my hours having fun by ,playing pool, football and even had time to go shopping in the town of Hellersdorf with Freddy our local organiser and helper.
Khalil
This morning I woke up and had two bowls of cereal. After I finished I went to have a shower, then when I had finished I got dressed and went to brush my teeth. I then ironed my cloths and finished my morning routine. I wasn’t able to comb my hair because it was nearly time for my editing session.
Sonika and me worked on the editing, where she did most of the work, only because she thought I would mess it up, so I sat there just giving some ideas. After this we had a 15 minute break where I was able to comb my hair and go for a cigarette. Cigarettes are cheaper in Germany and come in packs of 20.
During the second session me and Khalil made sketches of what we could do for our graffiti design. I made six advance sketches, which would have been impossible to make while Khalil made two simple detailed sketches. We ended up using Khalil’s final design. However our problem was that we’ve never made a Graffiti tag before.
We then made our way to the art room with my spray cans. The colours we were going to use were red, blue and black. Before we could start Khalil sketched outlines of the logo “Freiheit, which means “Freedom” in German on the wall. Sonika and Carolina set up the video camera and Stefan took pictures of us while we were getting ready.
After Khalil had finish the sketch on the wall the camera started and so did we. Khalil started off by filling in the words in blue, the problem was the can finish half way through the filming, so we had to change the colours with the black spray paint. Things got bad because we started arguing about how we should do it. However we finished it and it looked ok.
Then we had another break. Khalil and myself explored the garden We found some interesting places. Then we had a bit of time so we played three rounds of pool. The last game I played was against Doug who lied and said “I never played pool in my life” and ended up beating me in the game.
When the game was over me and Khalil went to Hellersdorf with Freddy who been a big help to all of us during the two weeks in Berlin.
Me and Khalil got ice cream and I got and apple Berliner, which is a pan cake with apple in the middle. It was nice. I still feel I should have got two but on our way back we chilled in the girls room with Carolina. We talked for half an hour and then all three of us went for a fag in the smoking area. At the end Doug made us write this blog. I got half way through writing this before me and the whole group went to an Italian restaurant. We had a big meal and when we came back I began to finish this off. When I’ve finish I’m going to the garden to light up another fag.
