Today was our third day in the glorious Deutschland, and we found out what we were actually here to do. The day started out with our daily source of bread and butter for breakfast, which was then followed by a long stroll through what could only be described as a German “ghetto”. A socially deprived area riddled with graffiti scarred flats aging by the second.
We then arrived at a open tram station were we had to wait 10 minutes for a tram that finally hovered slowly towards us and took us to our next destination - Kids and Co’s big brother in Pappelhof. When we entered the building we were hit with an array of imagination that was a feast for our eyes. This room was called the “space club” a giant life size model of the moon used for educational purposes which includes a space ship that resembles the one that was used in star trek, they have even gone as far as creating a short film using the sci-fi sets - called Star Clash.
They then showed us around the different departments that dealt with different aspects of media. After that they treated us to a traditional German meal that was a fest for the senses. When we were all done and dusted with the germen meal. We thought it might be a good idea to go to the local youth club and try out the local skate park. We were wrong. We were greeted by the most hostile of stares, and remarks unknown to the non-germen ear. I only was able to make out one remark. A child called me “hot chocolate” in germen of course. I don’t know if that was a good or bad thing, but it’s a remark to the colour of my skin, but other then that we had a great time and Tuesday turned out to be a very productive day.
