Today we went to see the Berlin wall with our mentor Diana and it was a very good experience. I was really shocked, surprised and intrigued as I did not think there would be that much graffiti on the wall and also in that much detail.
Whilst we walked down the street where the Berlin wall is based we saw different types of graffiti and also comments that were left by other people who had been to visit the wall. The comments were very touching, emotional and also very political. Some people had left personal messages, such as “I proposed to my girlfriend here… and…she said yes”.
Once we had reached the end of the street there was a Mc Donald’s. We decided to go there for lunch. It wasn’t very German, but we were hungry!! We later went to Kreuzberg were we all discussed what we had just seen. This was very good because I was able to find out what other people thought about the wall.
So far in Germany I have experienced many things, firstly the shops are extremely cheap, secondly the culture in Germany is very different to the way that I live in London and lastly that I should really start appreciating the items that belong to me. The reason for this is because I have seen some places in Berlin that are really shocking and have made me feel this way.
When we went to Papplehof Kids & Co, the technology that they had was very old. When I thought about the technology that I use to do my editing in our personal studio I was shocked, the reason for this is because they are using equipment that was around from 1985 and before. Even the music production and editing software was very basic. So far it has been a great experience and I have learnt lots.
